Privacy Policy

Last updated: 27 September 2026

In short: we collect only what Foodie needs to plan and price your week, we never sell your data or use it for advertising, and you can delete your account and everything in it from Settings whenever you like.

The rest of this page explains the detail. If anything is unclear, or you'd like to ask about your data, email aaron@iterationlab.io and we'll be glad to help.

Who we are

Foodie is run by Iteration Lab Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. We are responsible for your personal data as its controller, and the best way to reach us is aaron@iterationlab.io.

What we collect

Your account

When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and Google account id. We use them to create your account and keep it secure.

Your plans

Everything you add to Foodie: your meals, weekly plans, shopping-list ticks, kitchen stock, household size, budget, preferred supermarkets and savings history. This is what Foodie is for, and it stays private to your account.

Your email preferences

Whether you'd like product updates or a weekly planning reminder, and on which day. We only send these if you turn them on, and every one has a one-click unsubscribe.

Your founding seat

Whether you have a seat and when it ends, with the payment reference. Payments are handled by our payment provider, so we never see or store your card details.

The wait-list

If you ask us to keep you posted, your email address, when you joined and which page you joined from.

Messages you send us

Feedback you send from the app, with your email address so we can reply.

Keeping Foodie safe and working

Your IP address, briefly, to stop any one visitor overloading the service. When something breaks, an error report that carries your account id but never your name or email.

How Foodie is used

Simple events such as “planned a week” or “finished a shop”, recorded against your account id, never your name or email, so we can see which parts of Foodie help people most. Page-by-page analytics only happen if you agree to them (see Cookies below).

Why we're allowed to use it

  • To provide the service you signed up for: your account, your plans and your seat.
  • Because you asked us to: optional emails, the wait-list and analytics cookies. You can change your mind at any time.
  • Because it's reasonable and expected: keeping Foodie secure, fixing errors, answering your messages and understanding which features help.
  • Because the law requires it: keeping payment records.

Who helps us run Foodie

We rely on a small number of trusted providers: for hosting, our database, signing in with Google, taking payments, sending email, reporting errors and, if you allow it, analytics. Each one handles your data only to provide its service to us, under a written agreement that protects it.

Your account data is stored in the UK, and error reports and analytics in the EU. Where a provider handles data outside the UK, the transfer is protected by the safeguards UK law requires. We never sell your data, and we never share it for advertising.

Foodie prices your week by sending the ingredients you've planned to our pricing service. Those lists carry nothing that identifies you.

Cookies

A few are essential and always on: the ones that keep you signed in and protect signing in. Your browser also remembers your light or dark theme and keeps a copy of your shopping list, so it still works in a shop with no signal.

Analytics cookies are optional, so they stay off unless you choose “Allow analytics”. Analytics is switched off at the moment, so Foodie sets no analytics cookies.

How long we keep it

  • Your account and plans: until you delete your account. Deleting it from Settings erases them straight away.
  • The wait-list: until you unsubscribe, which deletes your address.
  • Payment records: six years, as UK accounting law requires, even after you delete your account.
  • Error reports and email delivery records: for a limited period, after which they're deleted automatically.
  • Analytics: removed when you delete your account.
  • Messages you send us: while they're useful, or until you ask us to delete them.

Your choices and rights

You're always in control of your data. You can:

  • ask for a copy of what we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct anything that's wrong;
  • delete your account and everything in it yourself, from Settings → Delete account, or ask us to do it;
  • ask us to stop or limit how we use your data;
  • ask for your data in a format you can take elsewhere;
  • turn emails off in Settings or with the link in any email, and change your cookie choice whenever you like.

Just email aaron@iterationlab.io. We'll reply within a month, and usually much sooner. If something isn't right, please tell us and we'll do our best to put it right.

Children

Foodie is designed for adults running a household, and you must be 18 or over to buy a founding seat.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we look after your data, we'll update this page and its date, and for any significant change we'll email account holders before it takes effect. Everything else about using Foodie is in the Terms of Service.
